

Hi, I’m Tom, Owner and Head Trainer at Next Step Coaching.
At Next Step, my focus is on helping kids and teenagers build strong foundations for life — physically, mentally, and emotionally — through age-appropriate, confidence-building training.
I specialise in youth and adolescent strength & conditioning, working with kids and teens of all abilities — from complete beginners to young athletes involved in football, netball, running, and other sports. Every session is designed to teach proper movement, develop strength safely, and build confidence in a gym or training environment.
My approach goes beyond just “exercise.” I place a huge emphasis on:
• Teaching correct movement patterns and technique
• Building strength and resilience in growing bodies
• Improving coordination, balance, and athletic skills
• Developing confidence, discipline, and a positive relationship with training
Sessions are structured, engaging, and fun, while still being purposeful and effective. Kids and teens are constantly learning — whether it’s how to lift safely, move better, or understand why training matters for their sport, health, and everyday life.
Strength and resistance training form the backbone of my programs, supported by conditioning work when appropriate — all scaled carefully to suit age, ability, and development stage.
Parents can expect a coaching environment that prioritises safety, education, and long-term development, not shortcuts or trends. The goal is to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to stay active and healthy well beyond their teenage years.
I also offer flexible in-person, hybrid, and online coaching options, with ongoing support to ensure both parents and athletes feel informed, supported, and confident in the process.
